This is one of the greatest gifts I've been given. My mom gave it to me. My grandmother made it. It reminds me of my heritage. It reminds me of the beautiful, clean, things in the temple.Today, our lesson was about great gifts. The greatest gift that God has given us is found in Doctrine and Covenants 14:7: "And, if you keep my commandments and endure to the end you shall have eternal life, which gift is the greatest of all the gifts of God."
John 12 tells how Mary gave Jesus a special gift. She annointed His feet with a very costly ointment called spikenard. Judas Iscariot said he thought they should sell the ointment for money and give the money to the poor. Jesus knew he was more interested in the money than in the poor. Clearly, Judas felt differently about Jesus than Mary did. She loved Him and gave Him a gift that meant a lot.
We can show our love to Him by giving Him gifts. Brother Baker, the Seminary and Institutes Coordinator in our area, dropped in for a surprise visit. He said, we can give Jesus Christ the gift of accepting His gifts. That means being willing to accept those things that will lead us to eternal life-- life with our Father in Heaven-- the greatest gift of all.
